(TISR) Fewer Taiwanese believe that the U.S. government attaches importance to Taiwan than did a year ago, according to a recent survey (in Chinese) by Taiwan Indicators Survey Research.
The survey found that 40.9 percent of respondents believe that the U.S. still attaches importance to Taiwan 35 years after the U.S. ended its diplomatic relations with the Republic of China. A March 2013 TISR survey found that 44.7 percent of respondents thought that the U.S. considered Taiwan to be important,

Conversely, more Taiwanese believe that the U.S. no longer attaches importance to Taiwan than did in March 2013. The survey found that 39 percent of respondents now feel that the U.S. does not consider Taiwan to be important, up 0.6 percentage point from March 2013.
