'Purely Internal Affairs': China Slams G7 Statement on Hong Kong

(Al Jazeera, By Staff Writer) On Monday, G7 leaders issued a joint statement supporting Hong Kong's autonomy as defined in the 1984 UK-China agreement following weeks of continuous protest. China has expressed its disapproval of the statement, calling Hong Kong's unrest a purely internal issue. In a statement, China asserted that no "foreign government, organization, or individual" has the right to intervene in Hong Kong. <Accessed 2019-08-27>
