President Tsai ‘Very Mature’ In Cross-Strait Ties: Ex-U.S. Official

Susan Thornton, former U.S. acting assistant secretary of state for East Asian and Pacific affairs, said on Friday that President Tsai has been very mature in her handling of cross-Strait affairs. She said she thinks maintaining status quo, reacting calmly, and maintaining communication are key. She also commented on Vice President Pence’s recent comments about China. <Accessed 2018-10-07>
